Just a short time ago, in a small town near
the Arctic Circle, another bouncing baby
polar bear was born, Barry. While all of the other bears had white fur, this bear’s fur was BLUE!! Only one other bear had such a complexion, this little blue bear’s older brother LOUIE.

Only one other bear had such a complexion, this little blue bear’s older brother LOUIE.Just like his brother the blue bear never really felt as though he fit in at school or among his friends. He was always picked last for hockey games (his favorite). Instead, he would spend most of his time wanting to get out of the Arctic Circle and be like his big brother.
Then one day Barry’s older brother got a phone call about Peoria Rivermen’s mascot Captain leaving to go sail around the world. Since the blue bear loved hockey, was blue himself, and a chance to be like his big brother he knew he would love Peoria.
After receiving word from LOUIE about going to Peoria, Barry was on the first ship to AWESOMETOWN. After meeting the team, he was inspired with their high energy and great teamwork. Even though they had never met a blue bear before, all the RIVS’ players & coaches liked him so much that they invited him to be a part of the team… as their new mascot! He knew that he had finally found where he belonged and could be just like his older brother.
On October 8, 2011, he was introduced to the roaring fans out of his favorite magical box! He was now living his dream.
Now, Barry can be seen at all home games and throughout the community doing what he loves best— meeting fans and supporting the Rivermen! So, the next time you’re at a RIVS game, be sure to say “hello” or give him a high five.
