Bishop Records Shutout in 3-0 Win
Ben Bishop recorded his second shutout of the
season on the way to a 3-0 Peoria Rivermen win over the Rockford IceHogs at the
BMO Harris Bank Center in front of 4,715 on Saturday night. Bishop stopped all
37 shots while T.J. Hensick, Brett Sonne and Brett Sterling tallied the Peoria
Hensick opened the scoring early with his sixth
goal of the year from Anthony Peluso and Derek Nesbitt. At just the 2:54 mark
of the opening frame, Hensick skated across the face of the goal and shelved a
backhanded shot past a sprawled out Alexander Salak.
Peoria’s Brett Sonne extended the Rivermen lead
at 14:00 in the second period when he swatted a rebound under Salak’s leg from outside
the crease. Cade Fairchild, who put the original shot on goal, and Adam
Cracknell were credited with the assists.
The Rivermen took a 3-0 lead on the power play
at 12:32 in the third period. Sterling
forced a puck into the Rockford net from the right side of the crease as Salak
fell into his net. Phil McRae and Hensick were awarded the assists.
Rockford outshot Peoria 37-28 and went 0-for-6
on the power play. Peoria went 1-for-5 on the man advantage.
