Rampage Score Final Five Goals in Win Over Rivermen
Evgeny Grachev scored a power-play goal just
2:34 into the first period but the San Antonio Rampage scored the final five
goals of the game to defeat the Peoria Rivermen 5-1 on Saturday night at the
AT&T Center. Former Rivermen Tyson Strachan notched the game-winner for San
Antonio as the Rampage won for the third straight game.
Grachev scored his first goal as a Rivermen by
converting a Cade Fairchild feed with time running down on Peoria’s first power
play. His first AHL point of the season
came in his eighth game after being assigned from St. Louis.
The Rampage responded with two goals in 1:21 from
Jon Matsumoto and Strachan. Matsumoto tied the game with a Rampage power-play
marker at 14:40 and Strachan’s shot along the ice got by the leg pad of Bishop
for his third on the season at 16:01.
Peoria outshot the Rampage 14-5 in the second
and 20-14 over the final two periods but the game went scoreless into the
third. James Wright ripped a one-timer home
at 11:45 after a feed from Tim Kennedy on a two-on-one break. Wright added an empty-netter from the red
line with 1:07 left to increase the Rampage lead to 4-1.
With Bishop back in the net for the final
seconds, Eric Sellek beat Bishop on a breakaway 9.5 left on the clock.
The loss marked the first time Peoria has
dropped back-to-back games in regulation since Dec. 9 and 10 when they lost to
