DISNEY STAR AND SPECIAL JERSEYS HIGHLIGHT WEEKEND

The Peoria Rivermen will welcome Disney Channel star Calum Worthy for a special celebrity guest appearance on Friday, Nov. 1, followed by "Illinois Air National Guard - Salute to Veterans Night" on Nov. 2, where the Rivermen will wear custom camouflage jerseys to be auctioned off after the game.

WHITFIELD VOTED INTO RIVERMEN HALL OF FAME

The Peoria Rivermen are excited to announce that former captain Trent Whitfield has been voted into the Rivermen Hockey Hall of Fame. Whitfield was chosen by unanimous vote earlier this month and will become the first player from Peoria's American Hockey League era to join the Hall of Fame.

TWO HAT TRICKS FUEL RIVERMEN COMEBACK IN HOME OPENER

Rookie center Garrett Vermeersch netted the game winner, and his third goal of the night, with 3.6 seconds left in regulation as the Peoria Rivermen edged the Bloomington Thunder 7-6 on Saturday at Carver Arena. Nick Prockow also scored a hat trick in Peoria's home opener, which was attended by 5,689 fans.

RIVERMEN ROLL PAST THUNDER IN SEASON OPENER

The Peoria Rivermen opened the 2013-2014 season, and their first in the Southern Professional Hockey League, with a commanding 5-1 victory over the Bloomington Thunder on Friday at Bloomington's U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

The Peoria Rivermen open their first season in the Southern Professional Hockey League on Friday, October 25 with their home opener following on Saturday, October 26. The Peoria Rivermen are excited to announce that defenseman Jarrett Rush has been named captain for the team's inaugural season in the Southern Professional Hockey League. In addition, big winger Ryan Raven and Pekin native Cole Ruwe have each been named alternate captains.

The Peoria Rivermen opened the on-ice portion of their first SPHL training camp on Monday, October 14. It was the first of seven practice sessions during camp, which are each open to the public and free of charge.

Goaltenders Jack Astedt and Curtis Martinu, along with forward Steve Morra, have all signed Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) training camp contracts with Peoria and are expected to be at Carver Arena next week.
