Peoria Rivermen President David Bullock announced Thursday that the club has hired Jason Penning as the new chief operating officer.

Penning, 34, joins the Rivermen after having worked five seasons with Peoria’s parent club, the St. Louis Blues. After joining the club as a data sales manager in July of 2005, he has spent the last two seasons as a premium sales executive with the Blues; responsible for the sale of luxury boxes, club level seats, as well as developing relationships with large businesses throughout the St. Louis area.

“We are extremely excited about bringing Jason into Peoria to help this club continue in the right direction,” said Bullock. “With his NHL experience over the past five years, he understands the business approach we took in St. Louis and will be able to enhance our fans’ experience with tremendous customer service and building relationships with our local businesses.”

A 1999 graduate of Iowa State University, Penning got his start as an assistant director of group sales with the Quad City River Bandits baseball club of the Midwest League. He transitioned into hockey soon after as the director of group sales for the Quad City Mallards, who were then part of the United Hockey League. After two successful seasons he accepted a position as the ticket operations manager of the Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo. before joining the Blues.

He and his wife Pam have two sons, Jared (4) and Jacob (4 mos.).

Season tickets for the 2010-11 campaign are now on sale at the Rivermen office. Call (309) 676-1040 for more information or to reserve you seats for next year. Visit Rivermen.net for more information.
