Former Peoria Rivermen David Backes is the first AHL Rivermen player to be named to an NHL All-Star team and Peoria will honor him with a canvas giveaway and discounted tickets to their game on Jan. 29 against the Grand Rapids Griffins.  Beginning at 12 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 24, four-packs of tickets for David Backes Night will be on sale for just $25 in the upper bowl and $42 in the lower bowl.

Backes, who wore No. 25 with Peoria and wears No. 42 with St. Louis, will be featured on a commemorative canvas that will be given away to the first 2,500 fans in attendance on Jan. 29, presented by Embassy Suites.  The sale will end on Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 12 p.m.

Fans can take advantage of this great deal by stopping by the Peoria Civic Center box office or by calling the Rivermen directly at 309-676-1040.

Backes played in 43 games over parts of two seasons with the Rivermen and registered 23 points (15 goals, eight assists) and 57 penalty minutes over his AHL career.  Since joining the Blues, he has played in over 300 games and accumulated nearly 200 points and over 450 penalty minutes.  Backes also won an Olympic silver medal last year in Vancouver playing for the U.S. National Team.
