TJ Hensick and Tyson Strachan Return to Peoria

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has assigned forward T.J. Hensick and defenseman Tyson Strachan to the Blues’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.

 

Hensick, 25, has dressed in 12 games for the Blues this season tallying one goal and one assist.  In 52 games with Peoria, the 5’10, 190-pound forward leads the Rivermen with 61 points including 18 goals and 43 assists.  Despite missing 18 games this season between recalls and injury, Hensick ranks eighth in the AHL with his 61 points while his 43 assists are fifth best in the league. 

 

The Lansing, Michigan native was acquired by the Blues from Colorado in exchange for Julian Talbot on June 17, 2010 and was originally drafted by Colorado in the third round, 88th overall, of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

 

Strachan, 26, has appeared in 28 games for the Blues this season recording an assist and serving 34 penalty minutes.  He has only appeared in four games this season with the Rivermen and has an assist and 2 penalty minutes. 

 

The Melfort, Saskatchewan native was signed by the Blues as a free agent on October 9, 2008 and was originally drafted by Carolina in the fifth round, 137th overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
