Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald
announced today the club has signed forward Chase Polacek (po-LAH-chick) to an
amateur tryout contract (ATO). He will
join the team this weekend in San Antonio.
Polacek, 21, just completed his senior season at
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he led the team in goals (21), points
(48), power-play goals (11) and shorthanded goals (4) in 37 games for the
Engineers. He led the nation with nine
game-winning goals in 2010-11. A Hobey
Baker Top Ten Finalist, Polacek was named to the All-ECAC first team and the
ECAC Hockey Player of the Year for the second year in a row.
The 5-foot-8-inch, 190-pound forward played in all
154 games during his collegiate career and finished 162 points (66 goals, 96
assists). Before attending R.P.I, the
Edina, MN native played his high school hockey for the Academy of Holy Angels
where he was a teammate of Rivermen winger Jay Barriball.
The Rivermen open up a three-game road trip by taking on the
San Antonio Rampage tonight at 7 p.m.
