The Peoria Rivermen announced today that winger Brett Sterling has been named the World Painting Company Player of the Month for October. Over the 10 games in October, Sterling scored seven times and added six assists in his first month with the Rivermen.

Sterling registered at least one point in nine of Peoria’s 10 games and is currently on a seven-game point streak.  His seven goals are eighth most in the American Hockey League and just two behind league-leading Carter Ashton (Norfolk). Sterling also ranks seventh in overall points with 13 and ninth in shots with 36.

A three-time 30-goal scorer and former Calder Cup champion, Sterling has totaled 178 goals and 151 assists for 329 career points in 329 AHL games between Chicago, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Peoria. The native of Los Angeles, Calif., was signed as a free agent by the St. Louis Blues on July 4, 2011.

Originally selected by the Atlanta Thrashers in the fifth round (#145 overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Sterling has appeared in 26 NHL games, with Atlanta and Pittsburgh, and totaled five goals and nine assists.

Each month, World Painting Company will present the player of the month with a plaque to honor their achievements at a Rivermen home game. Whether it’s a room in your office or home, or the entire building, visitwww.worldpaintingcompany.com for all your residential and commercial painting needs.
