Rivermen to Start New Year In Milwaukee

Season series: Tonight marks the sixth of 12 meetings between the Peoria Rivermen and Milwaukee Admirals this season. The Rivermen have a 0-5-0-0 record against the Admirals this season and sit 21-32-3-3 all-time since joining the AHL in 2005-06.

Big story: In each of their five meetings this season, the Rivermen have failed to produce much offense, scoring a combined six goals. However, the Rivermen are 5-2-0-0 in the final game of three games in three days sets this season.

Team scope:

Rivermen: The Rivermen defeated the Rockford IceHogs in their ninth meeting this season 3-2 last night at Carver Arena.


Brett Sonne, Cade Fairchild and Phil McRae each scored for Peoria while Ben Bishop stopped 35 of 37 shots on goal en route to his 14th win this season. Rockford and


Peoria combined for a total of 102 penalty minutes including three fights and four misconducts.

Peoria has registered points in six of their last seven games (5-1-1-0).


Admirals: Just as Peoria did on Friday, Milwaukee played in Grand Rapids last night but lost 3-2.


Zach Stortini and Chris Mueller tallied the Admirals’ goals while Jeremy Smith stopped 20 of 23 shots on goal. Milwaukee went 0-for-4 on the power play and killed 3-of-4 in favor of Grand Rapids.


Prior to last night’s loss, Milwaukee won three consecutive contests dating back to Dec. 18 against Peoria.


Who's hot: McRae has scored in back-to-back games for Peoria, bringing his total to a team leading 15 on the season.
