The Peoria Rivermen are pleased to announce that Andrew Cohen has been named the team’s head equipment manager for the 2013-14 season. A native of Peoria, Cohen is a graduate of Dunlap High School and an alumnus of Eureka College. He will be responsible for all of the Rivermen equipment needs.


Cohen, 25, spent last season as an equipment assistant with the NHL’s Dallas Stars. Prior to officially joining the Stars, Cohen volunteered with the club while serving as the head equipment manager of for the Texas Tornado of the North American Hockey League.


During his time in with the Tornado, former Rivermen Tony Curtale served as the head coach. Curtale, who has now coached the Tornado for 12 seasons, played for the IHL Prancers/Rivermen for parts of four seasons (1983-87).


Cohen began as an intern with the Tornado in the summer of 2009 and was officially hired as the head equipment manager prior to the 2010-11 season.
