The Peoria Rivermen announced Monday that Alan Fuehring has been named the play-by-play broadcaster and Director of Media Relations/Broadcasting for the club’s inaugural season in the Southern Professional Hockey League. Details on the team’s radio broadcasts and station will be available at a later date.

Fuehring, 23, had been a key intern for the team in each of it’s past three seasons while in the American Hockey League. He also brings with him the experience of filling in on several broadcasts and calling a handful of games for the then-AHL team.

"This is a great opportunity for me to come back to a place that I am very familiar with," Fuehring said. "I am extremely excited for the season to start and to serve such a great fan base and community."

A native of Morton, Illinois, Fuehring is no stranger to the area. He graduated from Bradley University in 2012 with a degree in sports communication and also served as a media relations intern for the Peoria Chiefs in 2011.

Prior to joining the Rivermen, Fuehring spent the past year in Charlotte, North Carolina, producing video packages for the FOX SPEED Channel. He has also spent time in Los Angeles working for KABC-TV.  His career in broadcasting began at Bradley, where he was a lead voice for many of the school's athletic teams including basketball, baseball and soccer.
