Peoria Rivermen head coach Jean-Guy Trudel has announced that winger Tyler Fernandez has been called up by the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) and will report immediately. There is no timetable for his return.

"Tyler has played well and earned this opportunity," Trudel said. "We're happy for him, and our guys know these chances will be there for them."

Fernandez, 25, appeared in all 12 Rivermen games so far this season and was second on the team in goals (5) and points (11). He also notched six assists, 12 penalty minutes and was tied for the team lead with three power play goals.

A native of Bloomfield, Connecticut, Fernandez spent the majority of last season with the Knoxville Ice Bears (SPHL), where he tallied more than a point per game with 21 goals and 29 assists (50 points) over 42 games. In addition, the 5’9, 180-pound winger played eight games with ECHL Greenville and eight games with ECHL Cincinnati. He recorded a combined four assists and 10 penalty minutes at the double-A level.

Peoria begins a home-and-home series against the Bloomington Thunder on Friday with a 7:15 p.m. puck drop at Carver Arena. Fans can get a great Black Friday ticket deal by visiting the Peoria Civic Center box office on Friday between 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. for $10 lower bowl tickets or $5 upper bowl tickets.
