Rivermen Complete Four-Player Trade with Fayetteville Wednesday

Peoria acquires goaltender Di Salvo, winger Kalisz from Marksmen

Peoria, IL – The Peoria Rivermen announced Wednesday afternoon that the team has completed a four-player trade with the Fayetteville Marksmen, acquiring goaltender Peter Di Salvo and winger Joe Kalisz in exchange for winger Dakota Klecha and the SPHL rights to winger Nick Miglio, currently on loan to ECHL Kansas City. In a pair of separate moves, the Rivermen have released goaltender Ryan de Melo, and center Joseph Widmar has returned from his loan to ECHL Greenville.

Di Salvo joins the Rivermen after playing in 17 games for the Marksmen this season, recording a 5-7-3 record with a 3.61 GAA and a .885 save percentage. The Oakville, ON native spent each of the previous three seasons with SPHL Mississippi, where he saw action in 76 games, going 45-20-6 for the RiverKings with a 2.58 goals-against average and a .914 saves rate.

Kalisz, meanwhile, comes to the Rivermen in the midst of his second pro season, having recorded six goals and three assists in 25 games for the Marksmen this season after logging 18 goals and assisting on 17 others in 48 games last season for the then-FireAntz. Prior to last season, Kalisz spent three collegiate seasons at UW-Stevens Point, posting 45 goals and 54 assists in 88 games.

Klecha heads to Fayetteville after the Taylor, MI native totaled 14 points (8g, 6a) in 27 games this season. Last year, Klecha skated in 40 games for Peoria, posting 15 goals and 20 helpers to go with a +20 rating, adding a goal and three assists in seven postseason games.

Miglio, meanwhile, leaves Peoria after skating in 14 games for the Rivermen this season, notching three goals and four assists, adding two assists in 12 ECHL games to date for Norfolk and Kansas City. Last season, the San Antonio, TX native notched seven goals and 10 helpers for ECHL Rapid City.

Widmar returns to the Rivermen after the first-year pro played in 20 ECHL games for Fort Wayne and Greenville, notching six assists. Before he was loaned to the Komets November 24, the Northbrook, IL native had posted three goals and six assists in 10 games for the Rivermen, adding a +4 rating and six penalty minutes. The 22-year-old had also logged five points in his last three games before his call-up to Fort Wayne.

De Melo leaves the Rivermen after playing in two games for Peoria, going 0-1-0 with a 6.02 GAA and .821 saves rate for the Rivermen. De Melo took the loss last Saturday at Huntsville, allowing five goals on 34 shots faced after he surrendered two goals on the first five shots he faced January 13 at Evansville, in a game that saw him relieved after just 10:08 of game action.

The Rivermen return to action this weekend when they play a home-and-home-and-home trio of games against the Evansville Thunderbolts, beginning with Peoria’s annual Faith & Family Night on Friday, featuring a postgame concert by Christian group The Afters. Following a Saturday tilt at the Ford Center, the Rivermen and Thunderbolts will return to Carver Arena on Sunday afternoon for a 3:05 game and Peoria’s first PNC Family Fun Sunday of the season, with discounted kids tickets, and a pregame fun fest in the Peoria Civic Center Great Hall including inflatables, face painting, and balloon art. Tickets for Friday’s and Sunday’s games, as well as all of Peoria’s remaining 2017-18 home games, can be purchased by calling the Rivermen office at (309)-676-1040.
