Former Thunderbolts Winger Petaccio Joins Rivermen

24-year-old notched 9 goals in 12 games vs Peoria last season

Peoria, IL – The Peoria Rivermen announced today that the team has signed winger Mark Petaccio to a professional tryout agreement for this October’s training camp. Petaccio joins the Rivermen after he tallied 18 goals and 19 assists over 52 games last season as a member of the Evansville Thunderbolts.

Petaccio spent all of last season with the Thunderbolts after beginning his pro career in 2016-17, splitting time between four pro teams, primarily Evansville and FHL Watertown, where he registered 45 points in 32 games and added three points in three playoff contests. In 12 games against Peoria last season, the 6-foot-4, 205-pounder logged nine goals and four assists, including two tallies on the power-play and two game-winners.

“We’re looking for Mark to be a key contributor for our team up front this season,” said Rivermen head coach Jean-Guy Trudel. “We got to see firsthand what he could do in his games against us last season, he’s a big, strong scorer with a hard shot and good hands around the net, and we’re excited to see what he can do in a Rivermen jersey this year.”

Petaccio becomes the second player to sign with the Rivermen this season, joining first-year defenseman Olivier Schingh-Gomez. Peoria is expected to open training camp in early October before beginning their 2018-19 regular season October 20 at Quad City.
