Flames Burn Rivermen 4-3

Grant Stevenson scored once and added two assists to pace the Quad City Flames to a 4-3 win over the Peoria Rivermen on Saturday night at Carver Arena.

Peoria jumped out to a 2-0 lead as they had the night before, this time courtesy of goals from Trent Whitfield and Alex Hellstrom.

From there, Cam Cunning, Krys Kolanos, and Warren Peters added first period markers, followed by Stevenson’s eventual game-winner at 2:55 of the second period, the third of three power play goals on the night for the Flames.

In the third, Jean-Guy Trudel netted his 6th of the year to pull Peoria within a goal at 16:55 from Mike Glumac, but the team could get no closer.

Matt Keetley earned his second straight victory with 27 saves, while Chris Beckford-Tseu was saddled with the loss in turning aside 15 shots.

Quad City finished the game 3-for-8 on the power play, beating the Rivermen in regulation for the first time since December 7, 2005.  Peoria ended the night 0-for-6.

The Rivermen will wrap up a five-game home stand next week with the Hamilton Bulldogs on Tuesday night, the Chicago Wolves on Friday, and the Rochester Americans on Saturday.
