January 4, 2011
Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced Tuesday that the club has reassigned defenseman Daryl Boyle to Peoria’s ECHL affiliate, the Alaska Aces.
Boyle, 23, appeared in 11 games with the Rivermen this season and recorded two assists and nine penalty minutes. After attending training camp with the St. Louis Blues and the Peoria Rivermen, he was assigned to Alaska on Oct. 3. He played in one game for the Aces, the Oct. 15 season-opener, and recorded the game-winning goal 40 seconds into overtime to help Alaska beat Utah 3-2.
Boyle played in the final 20 games of the 2009-10 season with the Rivermen after the team acquired him in a trade from the Rockford IceHogs on March 1. He registered nine points (four goals, five assists) and a plus-8 rating while with the Rivermen. He finished the season with 29 points (eight goals, 21 assists) and plus-5 in his 72 games between Peoria and Rockford.
He began his professional career with a six-game stint with the Norfolk Admirals in 2007-08 and appeared in 70 games for the club in 2008-09. He led all Norfolk rookie scorers in points (15) and assists (13) that season and overall has appeared in 125 AHL games over his career.
A native of Sparwood, BC, Boyle played four seasons for the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League where they reached the postseason every year.
The Rivermen host the San Antonio Rampage on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. in a battle for first place in the Western Conference. Tickets are available online through www.rivermen.net/tickets or by calling 309-676-1040.
