St.
Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has recalled defenseman Ian Cole from the Blues’ American
Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen. In addition, the club also placed defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo on injured
reserve. Colaiacovo suffered a left eye
injury in the Blues’ 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings last night at Scottrade
Center.
Cole, 21, has played in 11 games and served 21 penalty minutes for the Blues this year including his NHL debut in the Blues’ 2-1 shootout victory on November 6 in Boston. The 6’1, 221-pound defenseman has also made 30 appearances for the Rivermen this season registering six points including a goal and five assists.
The Ann Arbor, Michigan native was originally drafted by the Blues in the first round, 18th overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. This marks Cole’s fourth recall from Peoria this season.
