Four Player Swap Sends Reaves and Cole Back to Peoria

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has recalled forward Stefan Della Rovere and defenseman Nikita Nikitin (NICK–it–in) from the Blues’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen. In addition, the club also assigned defenseman Ian Cole and forward Ryan Reaves to Peoria.
Cole, 21, has played in 13 games and served 23 penalty minutes for the Blues this year including his NHL debut on November 6th in Boston. The 6’1, 221-pound defenseman has also made 30 appearances for the Rivermen registering six points including a goal and five assists. The Ann Arbor, Michigan native was originally drafted by the Blues in the first round, 18th overall, of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Reaves, 23, has made eight appearances totaling two goals and 26 penalty minutes for the Blues this season including his NHL debut on October 11th against Anaheim. The 6’1, 225-pound forward has also dressed in 33 games for the Rivermen collecting nine points on four goals and five assists to go along with 91 penalty minutes. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native was originally drafted by the Blues in the fifth round, 156th overall, of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Della Rovere, 20, has made 37 appearances for the Rivermen this season notching 12 points on six goals and six assists to go along with 78 penalty minutes. The 5’11, 200-pound forward has also dressed in five games and served nine penalty minutes for the Blues including his NHL debut on December 1st against Washington. The Richmond Hill, Ontario native was originally drafted by Washington in the seventh round, 204th overall, of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by St. Louis from Washington in exchange for D.J. King on July 28, 2010.
Nikitin, 24, has played in 20 games for the Rivermen this year totaling 14 points including three goals and 11 assists. The 6’3, 217-pound defenseman has also made 13 appearances and served four penalty minutes for the Blues including his NHL debut on November 6th in Boston. The Omsk, Russia native was originally drafted by the Blues in the fifth round, 136th overall, of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
