Rivermen Sign Slava Trukhno and Jake Gannon from ECHL

Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced today that the club has signed forward Slava Trukhno (TRUCK-no) and defenseman Jake Gannon to professional tryout contracts (PTO). The team has also released goaltender Michael Ouzas from his PTO.
Trukhno, 23, has appeared in 30 games this season for the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL. He has recorded 32 points (eight goals, 24 assists) and 36 penalty minutes since joining the club on Nov. 19. Before this season he spent his first three professional campaigns exclusively with the Springfield Falcons (AHL). In 193 games, the 6-foot-2-inch, 196-pound center scored 33 goals and added 54 assists and 136 penalty minutes. A native of Moscow, Russia, he was originally drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the fourth round (#120 overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Gannon, 23, is now in his third stint with the Rivermen this season. He spent 15 games with Peoria between he was signed on Nov. 5 and Dec. 8. He also appeared in one game on Jan. 22. He has registered one assist and skated to a plus-four rating in his time with the club. He has spent the rest of the season with the ECHL Utah Grizzlies, where he serves as the team captain, and collected seven points (one goal, six assists) in his 16 games. He served as an alternate captain at the ECHL All-Star Game in Bakersfield, Calif. on Jan. 27.
The Rivermen conclude their four-game road trip on Wednesday in Milwaukee at 7 p.m. The game can be heard locally on 96.5 ESPN Radio in Peoria.
