Rivermen Players to Grow Mustaches for
November 1, 2011

The Peoria Rivermen announced Tuesday that in an effort to raise funds and awareness for cancers affecting men, 14 players on the club’s roster will grow moustaches in honor of “Movember.” Rivermen right wing Brett Sterling is leading the charge during the 30-day moustache-growing movement in November.
“It’s a fun way to bring
awareness to cancers affecting men and we are excited to be a part of it,” said
Sterling. “I’m sure some of them won’t be pretty but it’s for a great cause and
it will be worth it in the end”
Rivermen teammates
participating in Movember with Sterling include: Jake Allen, Jay Barriball, Ian
Cole, Adam Cracknell, Mark Cundari, Stefan Della Rovere, Cade Fairchild, Jake
Gannon, Kyle Hagel, Anthony Nigro, Chase Polacek, Brett Ponich and Brett Sonne.
Pictures will be taken of their progress throughout the month and shared HERE. At the end of the month fans will be able to vote on who grew the best mustache.
Men are encouraged join the Rivermen. Register at www.movember.com and start with a clean-shaven face. For more details on the Peoria Rivermen participation and ways to contribute to “Movember”, please visit the Rivermen MoSpace page.
About “Movember”
Movember is an
annual charity event during the month of November where men grow a moustache
while raising funds and awareness for men’s health issues. The moustache is our
ribbon, it’s the vehicle by which we
raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer research. Much like the
commitment to run or walk for charity, our commitment is to grow a moustache
and change the face of men’s health.
