Ben Bishop, with a little help from Jake Allen, stopped all 42 Rockford IceHogs shots as the Peoria Rivermen beat the IceHogs 1-0 at the BMO Harris Bank Center on Wednesday night. The Rivermen were held to a season-low 13 shots on goal but still managed to win their third game in a row.
Anthony Peluso deflected in a Brennan Evans slap shot in at 0:20 of the second period, which stood up at the game’s only goal.
Peoria improved to 27-21-2-1 and remain in third place in the Midwest Division and moved up to sixth in the Western Conference with the win.
The Rivermen were outshot 14-5 in the first period but Bishop kept the ‘Hogs off the board. Shortly after Peluso’s goal to open the second, Bishop left the game for some medical attention at the 0:57 mark. Allen was pressed into action for 8:46, and made six save, before Bishop returned to play.
Peoria held Rockford scoreless on seven power plays, including two different five-on-three advantages while the Rivermen went 0-for-3.
