Matthew Schwegmann

Director of Operations

Matthew "Matty" Schwegmann returns to the Rivermen to handle equipment duties as Director of Operations for the 2018-19 season after spending 2017-18 as the Equipment Manager of the ECHL's Jacksonville IceMen in the franchise's inaugural season in Jacksonville. Schwegmann, 27, was named Sportstape SPHL Equipment Manager of the Year in 2016-17, his first full-time season with the Rivermen. Schwegmann attended Peoria Notre Dame High School and went to Illinois State University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Renewable Energy and a minor in Environmental Studies. He got his start in pro hockey in 2012 as the visiting team locker room attendant for the CHL's Bloomington Blaze, and spent three seasons as Equipment Assistant for the Rivermen from 2013-16 before assuming his full-time role prior to the 2016-17 season. He currently resides in East Peoria with his girlfriend Summer, her daughter Sylee, and their puppy Vladimir.
