Michelle Novak is employed by Accelerated Rehabilitation Center and was hired by the Rivermen to be the team’s athletic trainer prior to the 2013-14 season. She becomes the first ever female trainer in Peoria's 32-year history as a professional franchise and is responsible for making sure each player is healthy and ready to skate each game. Novak also works closely with an affiliated team of doctors to make sure each player gets the proper care needed to stay healthy.
The 29-year-old native of Normal, Illinois has been working with Accelerated Rehab since 2011. She spent the 2011-12 season with Hinsdale Central High School in Hinsdale, Illinois, before returning to Bloomington-Normal to jumpstart her career in sports medicine in Central Illinois. Last year, she served as the head athletic trainer for the Bloomington Edge in the Arena Football League.
Novak is a graduate of Illinois State University where she earned her degree in athletic training in 2009. While in undergrad, she spent one of her clinical rotations working closely with the former Bloomington Prairie Thunder hockey team. In 2011, she earned her Master's degree in psychology of sport and exercise from Illinois State. Novak currently resides in Normal.
