Playoff Leader Gorman Returns to Peoria for Sophomore Season
Rookie paced SPHL with 11 points in 7 postseason contests
Peoria, IL – The Peoria Rivermen announced today that the team has signed winger Connor Gorman to a professional tryout contract for Peoria’s 2017 training camp. Gorman returns to the Rivermen after leading the league with 11 points in seven playoff contests last season to help Peoria reach the President’s Cup Finals in his rookie campaign.
Gorman, 24, spent last season entirely with the Rivermen, skating in a team-high 55 games, and his 22 goals were two shy of the team lead. The Shrewsbury, MA native proceeded to notch six goals and five assists in seven postseason contests, leading the league in goals and total points for the playoffs as Peoria advanced to the President’s Cup Finals for the second straight season.
“Getting Gorms back will be big for our offense,” said Rivermen head coach Jean-Guy Trudel. “He worked hard all season and was our most improved player, he’s a high-motor guy at both ends of the ice and he’s not afraid to go to the dirty areas and score some greasy goals.”
Gorman joins wingers Mike Gurtler and Cody Dion, defensemen Ben Oskroba, Kevin Kirisits, and Kyle LeBrun, and goaltender Spencer Bacon on Peoria’s training camp ledger. The Rivermen will open training camp in October, prior to October 21’s season opener at Evansville. All training camp practices will be open for public viewing, with dates, times, and locations to be announced closer to the start of camp.

The Rivermen open the 2017-18 regular season at Evansville October 21, and commence the home portion of their schedule October 27 & 28 at Carver Arena against the expansion Birmingham Bulls.
