A Letter to our Fans & Corporate Partners

October 14, 2020 - 10:10 am

Dear Rivermen Season Tickets and Corporate Partners:

This should be the time we are reaching out for you to pick up your Season Ticket Booklets and excited to be welcoming in our Rivermen players this weekend for training camp to start the season.  As we know, the past seven months have been anything from normal for our organization or fans and corporate partners. Having to cancel the season abruptly in March, sitting in limbo for the past seven months not knowing our path and now having to make the announcement that the season would not go on as planned for 2020-21. This is NOT the position any of us within our organization would have thought we would still be stuck in seven months later.

As we announced in our press release, the clock had run out of time for us to be able to let our league know of our intentions for the 2020-21 season. We are still sitting in Phase four of the State of Illinois “RESTORE ILLINOIS” plan, which prohibits the ability to host large gatherings of more than 50 people until there is a vaccine in place or cure for COVID19. The Rivermen, along with the Evansville Thunderbolts, Quad City Storm, Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs and Fayetteville Marksmen were all forced into the same decision process to opt out of the 2020-21 season. Without fans being able to attend our games, this created no path forward for us to be able to operate in that position. For that, we are very sorry and hope you understand. Ultimately, we had no choice.

With that news out of the way, we now must focus and start the process of selling and renewing season tickets, sponsorships, and setting promotions in motion for 2021-22 season.  It is not that far off as we usually start that process during the season in February of each year. We know there might be questions and concerns about your season ticket and sponsorship money many of you have already given to us during the summer.  Your money is still here, secure, and in a separate account earmarked for the 2021-22 season that is not being touched.  With that being said, it’s VITAL that we do not lose our base of Season Ticket Holders and Corporate Sponsorships through this pandemic. We have outlined some options for you to consider moving forward that helps us assure you will be back with us during the 2021-22 season.

A member of the Rivermen organization will contact you to discuss these options further.

Again, we apologize for not having a path forward to play this upcoming season and we hope we have made the process as seamless and easy as possible. We hope you will push forward your commitment to our franchise for the 2021-22 Season, so we know we have you back, but understand your decision that best suits your individual needs during this pandemic.

Our organization cannot Thank you enough for your support and understanding!
