Rivermen Can’t Get Enough Phaneuf, Re-sign Standout Netminder

The Peoria Rivermen announced Monday that the team has signed goaltender Storm Phaneuf to a contract before the team’s weekend series in Knoxville. The Gatineau, Quebec native returns to the Rivermen after beginning this season with the Rapid City Rush of the ECHL, where he saw action in five games before being waived over the weekend.

City of Peoria to Honor Late Rivermen Owner

The City of Peoria, in conjunction with the Peoria Rivermen and Peoria Civic Center, have announced plans this week to honor late Rivermen owner Bruce Saurs by renaming a stretch of road in downtown Peoria “Bruce Saurs Way”. The run of SW Jefferson Avenue from Fulton Street to William Krumpf Boulevard will be renamed in a ceremony November 25 to honor the late Rivermen owner and his contributions to professional hockey in Peoria.

The Peoria Rivermen announced a series of roster moves Monday, sending winger Justin Greenberg to the 30-day Injured Reserve with an upper-body injury and signing rookie winger Will Smith to a full contract, while adding goaltender Tyler Parks on a full deal and waiving netminder Matt Leon. Additionally, the Rivermen have loaned defenseman Nick Neville to ECHL South Carolina as Peoria prepares to host a pair of games against the Mississippi RiverKings Friday and Saturday night at Carver Arena following the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Rivermen Gear Up For Nickelodeon Partnership

The Peoria Rivermen are excited to announce that the team has paired up with media conglomerate Nickelodeon for two of the team's specialty jersey games this season, including Peoria's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles night December 9, and Nick Jr. Paw Patrol night on February 16. The Rivermen are scheduled to wear specialty jerseys for each of the games, with character appearances each night as well.

Rivermen Mourn Loss of Longtime Broadcaster Ulrich

The Peoria Rivermen are saddened Monday night to learn of the passing of longtime broadcast voice Norm Ulrich, who spent 14 seasons as the play-by-play broadcaster for the team until his retirement in 2007. Ulrich worked for the Rivermen from 1988-92 and from 1995 until his retirement after the 2006-07 season.

Rivermen Sign Defenseman Fortman

The Peoria Rivermen announced late Wednesday afternoon that the team has signed defenseman Geoff Fortman to a contract prior to the team’s 2017-18 season opener. He becomes the first player to sign with a professional team under the Consolidated Sports Holdings International LLC umbrella after spending his two-year junior career with the CSH-owned Amarillo Bulls of the NAHL.

Rivermen Cut Roster to 22 at Midpoint of Training Camp

The Peoria Rivermen announced a wave of roster cuts Sunday afternoon before the SPHL’s Sunday-night 22-man roster cut-down deadline. In order to reduce the roster to 22 players, including goalies, Peoria released goaltender Dylan Wells and forwards Nathan Pelligra and Brandon Platt.
