Rivermen Sign Defenseman Fortman

The Peoria Rivermen announced late Wednesday afternoon that the team has signed defenseman Geoff Fortman to a contract prior to the team’s 2017-18 season opener. He becomes the first player to sign with a professional team under the Consolidated Sports Holdings International LLC umbrella after spending his two-year junior career with the CSH-owned Amarillo Bulls of the NAHL.

The Peoria Rivermen released four players from the club’s training camp roster today, leaving themselves with a full 18-man roster ahead of their season opener Saturday night in Evansville. Among the 18 remaining players, 10 are returning to Peoria, while eight will be making their Rivermen debuts this season.

Rivermen Cut Roster to 22 at Midpoint of Training Camp

The Peoria Rivermen announced a wave of roster cuts Sunday afternoon before the SPHL’s Sunday-night 22-man roster cut-down deadline. In order to reduce the roster to 22 players, including goalies, Peoria released goaltender Dylan Wells and forwards Nathan Pelligra and Brandon Platt.

Rivermen Kick Off 2017 Training Camp Wednesday

The Peoria Rivermen have announced the team’s official training camp tryout roster and practice schedule today as the franchise prepares to begin its 36th season of professional hockey in Peoria. The Rivermen are expected to begin practice at 10 AM today at Owens Center in Peoria with a roster of 18 skaters and four goaltenders, with players to be added and removed from that roster throughout the duration of camp until next Wednesday’s SPHL roster deadline, by which point all teams must have their 19-man opening-night roster submitted to the league.

Rivermen Ink Goaltender Levine on Eve of Training Camp

The Peoria Rivermen announced today that the team has signed veteran goaltender Eric Levine to a professional tryout agreement for this season’s training camp, which is set to begin tomorrow. Levine, 29, returns to the Rivermen for the first time since the 2014-15 season after spending all of last season in ECHL Indy on a two-way contract with the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs.

Neville returns to the Rivermen after he played in seven games last season following a season-opening 18-game stint with the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays, while Leon comes to Peoria after the conclusion of his four-year college career at SUNY-Geneseo.

Klecha returns to Peoria after spending his first North American pro season with the Rivermen in 2016-17, while Wells joins Peoria after spending his rookie campaign with SPHL Knoxville following a collegiate career at the University of Southern Maine and Utica College.

CSH International to Join Rivermen Ownership

The Peoria Rivermen, proud members of the Southern Professional Hockey League, announced today that Bill Yuill, the CEO and Chairman of Alberta’s Monarch Corporation and Consolidated Sports Holdings International, has become a majority owner of the Rivermen, along with current minority Rivermen co-owners Bart Rogers and John Butler. Per the agreement, CSH International, the sports division of Yuill’s Monarch Corporation, will now hold majority ownership of the Peoria franchise, now entering its 36th consecutive season of operation, ranking among the longest in all minor pro hockey.
