Pszenyczny Returns to Rivermen Blueline

The Peoria Rivermen have announced today that the team has re-signed veteran defenseman Dave Pszenyczny to a training camp contract for the team’s preseason camp. The veteran defenseman returns for his third season on the Rivermen blueline after he posted three goals and a career-high 28 assists in 47 games last season before adding six helpers in seven postseason contests.

Riedel Named Rivermen Athletic Trainer

The Peoria Rivermen, in coordination with Midwest Orthopaedic Center, announced today that Brian Riedel has been named the team’s athletic trainer for the 2017-18 season. Riedel becomes the second trainer in Peoria’s SPHL era, replacing departing trainer Michelle Novak, who had worked with the Rivermen since the SPHL franchise’s foundation in 2013.

The Peoria Rivermen announced today that the team has signed center Eric Witzel to a professional tryout deal for this October’s training camp. Witzel, 24, began his first full pro season in the Federal Hockey League last year before playing in 17 SPHL games for Huntsville and 7 more with the Rivermen, additionally skating in five of Peoria’s seven postseason tilts.

The Peoria Rivermen announced today that the team has signed winger Alec Hagaman to a training camp deal for the team’s upcoming camp, set to take place prior to October’s season opener. The Peoria native returns to the Rivermen for his fourth full season in Peoria after he set career highs with 25 assists and 37 points and led Peoria with 108 penalty minutes last season.

The Peoria Rivermen announced Thursday that the team has signed a pair of players to professional tryout agreements for this October’s training camp, adding 6-foot-5 defenseman Ben Oskroba and 6-foot-6 goaltender Spencer Bacon to the team’s training camp roster. Oskroba and Bacon join winger Mike Gurtler and defensemen Kevin Kirisits and Kyle LeBrun on Peoria’s training camp ledger, with the Rivermen expected to open training camp in early October before October 21’s season opener.

Rivermen Sign Fan-Favorite Gurtler Out of Retirement

The Peoria Rivermen announced Wednesday that the team has signed winger Mike Gurtler to a professional tryout agreement for this October’s training camp, ending the 30-year-old’s one-year retirement from pro hockey. Additionally, the Rivermen have added rookie defensemen Kevin Kirisits and Kyle LeBrun to the team’s training camp roster. Kirisits played in three games for the Rivermen last March after concluding his collegiate career at Utica College, while LeBrun wrapped up a four-year college career last season at Wentworth Institute of Technology.
