Greenside Returns to Rivermen Blueline

Suspension looming from Finals incident, Jones also placed on 14-day IR

PEORIA, IL – The Peoria Rivermen on Wednesday announced that the team has re-signed 2015-16 SPHL Defenseman of the Year Brandon Greenside to its roster. The London, Ontario native paced all SPHL defensemen with 37 points last season, including 31 assists, and led the entire league with a +31 rating while he was the only Rivermen player to suit up for all 56 regular-season games.

Greenside will await sentencing in the coming days from league officials after he was involved in a postgame skirmish with officials following Game 3 of the Presidents Cup Finals this past May. Rivermen defensemen Dave Pszenyczny has served an 8-game ban for his part in the incident, and Rivermen winger Adam Stuart served a 3-game sentence as a member of the Knoxville Ice Bears to begin the 2016-17 season.

In a separate move on Wednesday the Rivermen placed winger Jeff Jones on the 14-day injured reserve. Peoria acquired Jones from Huntsville in exchange for winger Johnny Daniels earlier this week. Jones had logged a goal and eight assists in 13 games with the Havoc this year, including a goal and four helpers in four games against the Rivermen.

The Rivermen return to the ice tomorrow night in Huntsville, Alabama when they take on the Havoc with a 7 PM puck drop scheduled. After Thursday night’s showdown with Huntsville, the Rivermen will travel to Columbus, GA for a pair of games Friday and Saturday night against the Cottonmouths. The Rivermen return home to Carver Arena for a single game December 9 against the Knoxville Ice Bears, with Chillicothe, IL native and Cleveland Indians pitcher Zach McAllister on hand to sign autographs and be acknowledged before the game.

Group, Season, and single-game tickets for Peoria's 35th season of professional hockey, presented by Midwest Orthopaedic Center, are on sale now at the Rivermen office, located at 201 S.W. Jefferson Street, or over the phone at (309) 676-1040. For the latest Rivermen news and notes, follow online at www.rivermen.net or through Facebook (www.facebook.com/PeoriaRivermen) - Twitter (https://twitter.com/Peoria_Rivermen)
