Rivermen Sign Winger St-Cyr, Defender Riley to 3-Game Tryout Deals

Former ECHLers join Peoria for three-game, three-day weekend road trip

KNOXVILLE, TN – The Peoria Rivermen announced on Friday morning that the team has inked winger Maxime St-Cyr and defenseman Conor Riley to three-game tryout contracts before the Rivermen depart for a three-game, three-day road trip to Knoxville, Huntsville, and Mississippi.

St-Cyr, 22, spent four full seasons in the Quebec Major-Junior Hockey League, and played in 48 ECHL games last season for Florida, tallying nine goals and six assists for the Everblades. He began this season with ECHL Norfolk, where he played in seven contests, scoring one goal for former Pensacola Ice Flyers bench boss Rod Aldoff before the Admirals released him on Monday. In his QMJHL career, St-Cyr played in 264 total games, posting 118 goals and assisting on 85 others. In his final QMJHL season of 2014-15, St-Cyr posted more than a point per game, scoring 54 goals and adding 30 assists for 84 points in 64 games, adding 15 points (12g, 3a) in 12 postseason games for Baie-Comeau Drakkar.

Riley comes to the Rivermen after skating in a pair of games last season for ECHL Adirondack, where he was a teammate of Rivermen forward Terrence Wallin. Prior to his brief stint in the ECHL, Riley played four collegiate seasons for the University of Maine, skating in 145 games with four goals and 18 assists. The 24-year-old native of Massena, NY also played one junior season in the Empire Junior Hockey League for the Valley Jr. Warriors, scoring seven goals and assisting on 27 others over 42 games, adding a pair of goals in four postseason contests.

The Rivermen return to action on the road tonight when they kick off a three-game, three-day road trip in Knoxville against the Ice Bears. After facing Knoxville, the Rivermen will travel to Huntsville tomorrow and Mississippi Sunday for 3 PM puck drops with the Havoc and RiverKings, respectively. Peoria will return home to take on the Evansville Thunderbolts November 25 and 26 at Carver Arena, with World Series MVP Ben Zobrist in attendance on Saturday the 26th as part of the team’s Hometown Heroes series presented by CEFCU and the Peoria Civic Center.
