Rivermen Sign Defenseman Driscoll Before Three-Game Weekend

Third-year blueliner joins Peoria after 25 games with expansion Evansville

 

Peoria, IL – The Peoria Rivermen announced on Thursday afternoon that the team has signed defenseman Bo Driscoll to a contract before Peoria’s three-game home weekend with Macon and Evansville. Driscoll began this season with Evansville, notching a pair of goals in 25 games to go with 24 penalty minutes before being waived this week.

 

Driscoll is in his third professional season after he began his pro career with nine games in the Federal Hockey League back in 2014-15. The native of Chelmsford, MA earned a call-up to the SPHL as a rookie, skating in 16 more regular-season games with Knoxville, adding seven postseason contests as the Ice Bears went on to win the 2015 SPHL President’s Cup. Last season Driscoll split time in the SPHL between Knoxville (23 games), and Huntsville (24 games), combining for three goals and 10 assists. The Framingham State University product also saw action last season in two games for the ECHL Evansville IceMen, and skated in one SPHL playoff game for Louisiana.

 

The 5-foot-9, 180 pounder was named team captain for his final two seasons at Framingham State in Framingham, Massachusetts, totaling 13 goals and 35 assists in 86 career games, racking up 74 career penalty minutes.

 

Driscoll joins the Rivermen before they host a trio of games this weekend, taking on the Macon Mayhem Friday and Saturday at 7:05 before the Rivermen welcome the Thunderbolts to Carver Arena for a 3:05 contest on Sunday. Friday is set as Peoria’s Youth Jersey Giveaway Night, with the first 750 kids 12 & under receiving youth jerseys courtesy of Pekin Insurance. Saturday Peoria will induct former ECHL Rivermen defenseman Dan Hodge into the Rivermen Hall of Fame, wearing specialty jerseys to honor “The Double Deuce” which will be auctioned off after the game. Sunday the Rivermen will host the season’s first PNC Family Fun Sunday, with pregame inflatables, balloon animals, and face painting in the Peoria Civic Center Great Hall before the game and a player autograph session on the concourse after the game in lieu of a postgame skate with the team.
