SPHL Announces 2019-20 Rivermen Home Dates

The Peoria Rivermen, in coordination with the Southern Professional Hockey League, are excited to announce the dates of Peoria’s home games for the 2019-20 season. The home slate for Peoria’s 38th season of professional hockey will begin Saturday, October 19, and include 10 Fridays, 11 Saturdays, 3 Thursdays, 3 Sundays, and one Tuesday.

RIVERMEN SCHEDULE 2019 EQUIPMENT SALE

The Peoria Rivermen have announced that the team will hold their annual Used Equipment Sale on May 29 from 5-7 PM in the Rivermen Team Store at the Peoria Civic Center. The sale will include used sticks, gloves, visors, hockey pants and socks, goalie pads, and helmet visors, as well as discounts on remaining Rivermen merchandise from Peoria’s record-setting 2018-19 campaign.

Rivermen Announce 2019 Protected List

Peoria, IL – The Peoria Rivermen today announced the team’s 13-man protected list for the 2019 offseason, including seven forwards, five defenseman, and one goaltender, all of whom spent time with the Rivermen during the 2018-19 season. The Rivermen retain exclusive SPHL negotiating rights with all protected players during the offseason and throughout the 2019-20 SPHL campaign.

Rivermen Announce Final Cuts, Finalize Playoff Roster

The Peoria Rivermen have announced the team’s finalized 19-man playoff roster for the 2019 President’s Cup postseason, prior to this evening’s Challenge Round selection announcement. The Rivermen have released wingers Mitchell McPherson and Drake Hunter, and are expected to bring veteran winger Mike Gurtler off of injured reserve when he is first eligible prior to Wednesday’s anticipated Challenge Round opener.

Siiro Returns to Rivermen Roster Thursday

The Peoria Rivermen have announced today that the team has signed winger Ryan Siiro to a contract prior to this weekend’s games against Quad City. Siiro, 26, returns to the Rivermen after beginning his pro career last season with Peoria, notching 10 goals and 12 assists in 33 games, adding a goal and three helpers in seven playoff outings. In additional moves earlier this week, the Rivermen waived center Colton Wolter, released winger Brian Bachnak from his amateur tryout contract, and signed winger Drake Hunter to a 3-game tryout deal.

Kalisz Activated from Injured Reserve Monday

The Peoria Rivermen announced Monday that the team has activated Joe Kalisz from the 21-day injured reserve. In additional moves, the Rivermen signed winger Mitchell McPherson to an Amateur Tryout Contract and placed veteran winger Mike Gurtler on the 21-day IR with an upper-body injury suffered in Peoria’s 3-1 loss at Knoxville Saturday.

Trudel Re-Ups with Rivermen, Signs Two-Year Extension

The Peoria Rivermen announced today that the team has agreed to terms with Head Coach Jean-Guy Trudel on a two-year contract extension that will keep Trudel in Peoria through the 2020-21 season. Trudel, 43, is in the midst of his sixth year at the Peoria helm, and has earned three SPHL Coach of the Year awards during his time behind the Rivermen bench, becoming the only coach to earn the honor more than once.
