Rivermen Announce Phaneuf’s Return to Roster Before Road Weekend

Former QMJHL standout rejoins Rivermen before weekend trip to Mississippi, Evansville

 

Peoria, IL – The Peoria Rivermen announced on Wednesday that the team has re-signed goaltender Storm Phaneuf, releasing emergency backup Brian Hamilton in advance of the team’s weekend trip to Mississippi and Evansville for games Friday and Saturday, respectively.

 

Phaneuf rejoins the Rivermen after his latest stint with the Federal Hockey League’s Danville Dashers, where he has posted an 11-3-1 record with one shutout and a 1.97 goals-against average as well as a .933 save percentage. In four games for the Rivermen this season across two separate stints in Peoria, Phaneuf is 0-2-1 with a 3.40 GAA and a .871 saves rate.

 

Phaneuf most recently played for the Rivermen January 7 at Mississippi, taking the loss after stopping 24 of 27 shots faced. Prior to this season, the Gatineau, Quebec native spent the 2015-16 season in the junior British Columbia Hockey League after playing parts of four years in the Quebec Major-Junior Hockey League.

 

The Rivermen return to action on the road this weekend, playing at Mississippi Friday night before taking on the Evansville Thunderbolts Saturday evening, before returning home to host the RiverKings February 3 & 4 at Carver Arena.
