Rivermen, Cottonmouths, Postpone Friday’s Game
Saturday January 21 game will be played as scheduled
Peoria, IL – The Peoria Rivermen and Columbus Cottonmouths, in cooperation with the Southern Professional Hockey League, announced Thursday night that the scheduled game between the teams for Friday, January 20, has been postponed, with a make-up date to be determined. Saturday’s scheduled contest between the Rivermen and Cottonmouths will still be played at Carver Arena.
Fans holding tickets to Friday’s game will be able to exchange them for an upper bowl ticket to Saturday night’s contest, or for a seat to any other Rivermen home game in the 2016-17 regular season, including the to-be-announced make-up game with Columbus.
“We are relieved that things did not turn out much worse for everyone involved in this situation,” said Rivermen owner Bart Rogers. “In my 25 years of working in this business, this is the first time I’ve ever encountered a situation like this. Our first and foremost concern was making sure that everybody on the bus was taken care of, and we will continue to do anything and everything we can to help the Cottonmouths as they work to put together a full roster to play a game on Saturday.”
The postponement comes in the wake of a bus accident Thursday in which Columbus’ chartered team bus rolled off the road near Morton as it was approaching Peoria. Any fans with further questions regarding the games can contact the Rivermen office at (309) 676-1040.
