Riedel Named Rivermen Athletic Trainer

23-year-old UW–Stevens Point graduate replaces veteran Michelle Novak

Peoria, IL – The Peoria Rivermen, in coordination with Midwest Orthopaedic Center, announced today that Brian Riedel has been named the team’s athletic trainer for the 2017-18 season. Riedel becomes the second trainer in Peoria’s SPHL era, replacing departing trainer Michelle Novak, who had worked with the Rivermen since the SPHL franchise’s foundation in 2013.

Riedel, 23, joins the Rivermen and Midwest Orthopaedic after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where he worked as an athletic training student for the men’s hockey team, this May. The Sun Prairie, WI native was also a credentialed USA Hockey Official while at Stevens Point, where he worked with newly signed Rivermen forward Jacob Barber and 2016-17 Rivermen winger Nick D’Avolio.

“We are excited to welcome Brian to the Rivermen family through our partnership with Midwest Orthopaedic,” said Rivermen owner Bart Rogers. “We pride ourselves on making sure our athletes are in the best possible shape, and when injuries do occur, we know they are going to be taken care of and rehabbed by the best orthopedic group in our area. We’re incredibly thankful to everyone at Midwest Ortho for making sure that commitment continues during our upcoming season.”
