Rivermen Sign Cluster of New Faces to Camp Roster

Former RiverKing Jesseau, Collegiate Standouts Stahl and Barber, to join Rivermen

 

Peoria, IL – The Peoria Rivermen announced Saturday that the team has signed winger Dustin Jesseau, defenseman Derek Stahl, center Jacob Barber, and forward Cameron Rossman to professional tryout agreements for the team’s October training camp.

 

Jesseau, 25, spent most of last season in the SPHL with the Mississippi RiverKings, logging five goals and five assists in 35 contests, adding 59 penalty minutes. Prior to that, the Aurora, ON native spent the entire 2015-16 season in the Federal Hockey League, notching 15 goals and 15 assists in 37 games between Danbury and Brewster.

 

Stahl looks to make his pro debut with the Rivermen after wrapping up a strong college career at D-III SUNY-Geneseo, where he tallied a pair of goals and assisted on 29 others over 111 games in a four-year stint. The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder spent most of his junior career in the Eastern Junior Hockey League, where he logged 39 points over 155 games from the blueline.

 

Barber, 25, comes to Peoria after completing a four-year collegiate stint last season with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where he tallied 17 goals and 22 assists in just 28 games as a senior, adding a +18 rating. For his college career with the Pointers, Barber logged 81 points (32 goals, 49 assists) in 90 contests, adding a career +37 rating. In parts of four junior seasons in the North American Hockey League, the Dardenne Prairie, MO native posted 66 goals and 58 assists in 175 career contests between Alaska and Wenatchee.

 

Rossman, meanwhile, joins the Rivermen training camp ledger after making his pro debut during the 2015-16 season, when he skated in 13 games for HC Pelhrinov in the third-highest pro league in the Czech Republic. In his junior career, the 27-year-old native of Allen Park, MI played two seasons, primarily with the Toledo Cherokee, where he notched 13 goals and 28 assists in 38 NA3HL games during the 2010-11 season.

 

The Rivermen will open training camp in October, prior to October 21’s season opener at Evansville. All training camp practices will be open for public viewing, with dates, times, and locations to be announced closer to the start of camp.

The Rivermen open the 2017-18 regular season at Evansville October 21, and commence the home portion of their schedule October 27 & 28 at Carver Arena against the expansion Birmingham Bulls.
