Rivermen Cut Roster to 22 at Midpoint of Training Camp
3 goalies, 21 skaters remain in Peoria ahead of Wednesday’s 19-man deadline
Peoria, IL – The Peoria Rivermen announced a wave of roster cuts Sunday afternoon before the SPHL’s Sunday-night 22-man roster cut-down deadline. In order to reduce the roster to 22 players, including goalies, Peoria released goaltender Dylan Wells and forwards Nathan Pelligra and Brandon Platt.
Among the 22 players currently remaining on Peoria’s training camp roster are 12 forwards, seven defensemen, and three goaltenders. The Rivermen now have until noon on Wednesday to release three more players to keep their 19-man roster in order.
Among Peoria’s roster, forwards Jacob Barber, Cody Dion, Connor Gorman, Justin Greenberg, Mike Gurtler, Alec Hagaman, Dustin Jesseau, Dakota Klecha, Nick Miglio, Ryan Siiro, Joseph Widmar, and Eric Witzel remain in Peoria, as do defensemen Nick Neville, Don Olivieri, Ben Oskroba, Kevin Patterson, Dave Pszenyczny, Brandon Rumble, and Derek Stahl. Goaltenders Matt Leon, Eric Levine, and Mike Santaguida also remain in Peoria competing for two slots on Peoria’s Opening Night roster.
The Rivermen will open their fifth SPHL regular season Saturday, October 21 at 7:15 in the Ford Center in Evansville, IN against the Thunderbolts, before rematching the ‘Bolts Tuesday morning, October 24 at 10 AM. Peoria will commence its home schedule October 27 & 28 against the expansion Birmingham Bulls, with both games scheduled to begin at 7:15 in Carver Arena.
