Rivermen Ink Goaltender Levine on Eve of Training Camp

Veteran netminder played 33 games for Peoria from 2013-15, spent all of 2016-17 with ECHL Indy

Peoria, IL – The Peoria Rivermen announced today that the team has signed veteran goaltender Eric Levine to a professional tryout agreement for this season’s training camp, which is set to begin tomorrow. Levine, 29, returns to the Rivermen for the first time since the 2014-15 season after spending all of last season in ECHL Indy on a two-way contract with the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs.

Levine joins the Rivermen on the eve of training camp after spending time earlier this month in camp with AHL Hartford and ECHL Greenville he saw action in 29 ECHL games last season for the Indy Fuel. As a professional, the 6-foot-3 Wheeling, IL native has skated in 100 regular-season contests, going 35-43-7 with a 3.15 GAA and .903 saves rate, including a16-14-5 mark with a 2.81 GAA and .907 save percentage in 37 SPHL appearances.

“I always loved it here,” said Levine of his time in Peoria. “Time has passed and I’m proud that I’ve accomplished a lot at the next level. It’s not often as a professional goalie you get a second chance, or in my case what feels like a seventh. Though it’s familiar territory (returning to Peoria), this time it’s different. This time, my goal is simply to bring this hockey town what it so deeply deserves: A championship.”
