Rivermen Shuffle Roster, Sign Center Lepine Tuesday

Veteran defenseman Oskroba activated from Injured Reserve

Peoria, IL – The Peoria Rivermen have announced a series of roster moves Tuesday, headlined by the addition of forwards Robert Lepine and Vincent Beaudry on full contracts. Additionally, the Rivermen placed veteran center Dean Yakura on waivers and dealt winger Mark Petaccio to Evansville in exchange for future considerations Monday, while activating defenseman Ben Oskroba from on the 21-day Injured Reserve and placing blueliner Brandon Parrone on the 30-day IR.

Lepine joins the Rivermen after playing one game this season for ECHL Rapid City. Last season, the 26-year-old center saw action in 26 games for SPHL Pensacola, tallying six goals and 16 assists before wrapping up his first pro season in the United Kingdom’s EIHL, posting five goals and nine helpers in 22 games for the Braehead Clan.

“Getting Lepine in the fold will be big for our offense,” said Rivermen head coach Jean-Guy Trudel. “He’s a big body who’s willing to do whatever it takes to win games, and you can never have enough guys like that on your roster.”

Beaudry, 21, spent all of training camp this season with the Rivermen, skating in one game before being released from his 3-game tryout contract following Peoria’s October 30 tilt at Evansville. The Montmagny, Quebec native has also seen action in two FHL games for Watertown this season, notching two goals and two assists.

Oskroba returns to Peoria’s active roster after he suffered a lower-body injury in the Rivermen regular-season opener October 20 at Quad City. In his SPHL career, the veteran defenseman has logged 18 goals and 49 assists in 214 regular-season contests, including a career-best eight goals and 19 points last season. Parrone heads to the Injured Reserve after suffering an injury in Peoria’s game against Fayetteville at Carver Arena November 10.

Yakura departs the Rivermen after failing to register a goal or an assist in seven games, adding a -4 plus/minus rating and eight penalty minutes. Petaccio, meanwhile, returns to Evansville, where he spent all of the 2017-18 season, after notching three goals and a -2 rating in five games.

The Rivermen are set to return to action this Friday and Saturday at Evansville before returning home for games November 23 and 24 against the Thunderbolts and Pensacola Ice Flyers, respectively, at Carver Arena. November 24 is Peoria’s second annual Wiener Dog Race Night, presented by Camp Bow Wow of Peoria, with specialty jerseys worn by the Rivermen and auctioned off postgame, and the team’s second ever Dachshund Race on ice during intermissions. Tickets to all of Peoria’s remaining 2018-19 home games are available by calling the team at (309)-676-1040.
