Siiro Returns to Rivermen Roster Thursday

Big winger began pro career last season with Peoria

Peoria, IL – The Peoria Rivermen have announced today that the team has signed winger Ryan Siiro to a contract prior to this weekend’s games against Quad City. Siiro, 26, returns to the Rivermen after beginning his pro career last season with Peoria, notching 10 goals and 12 assists in 33 games, adding a goal and three helpers in seven playoff outings. In additional moves earlier this week, the Rivermen waived center Colton Wolter, released winger Brian Bachnak from his amateur tryout contract, and signed winger Drake Hunter to a 3-game tryout deal.

Siiro makes his return to the Rivermen lineup after he was among Peoria’s 13 protected players last summer before making ECHL Orlando’s Opening Night roster. All told, the 6-foot-2, 220 pounder saw action in 44 ECHL games this season with Orlando, Fort Wayne, and Maine, tallying a goal and six assists. Last season, the Princeton University product posted three goals and three assists in a 21-game stint for ECHL Colorado before returning to help the Rivermen to the President’s Cup Finals.

“Getting Ryan is huge for our offense,” said Rivermen head coach Jean-Guy Trudel. “He’s a big body up front who we know can play in our systems. We were happy to see Ryan have the success he’s had in the ECHL this season, and we’re even more excited that he wants to come back here and help us bring a championship to Peoria.”

Siiro must play in at least five of Peoria’s final six games to become eligible for the President’s Cup Playoffs, which will begin after April 6’s regular-season finale. The Rivermen return to action this Friday, March 22, when they make their season’s final trip to the TaxSlayer Center to face the Quad City Storm before playing at home March 23, 29, & 30 and April 5 and 6. Tickets for all of Peoria’s remaining regular-season home games, as well as information regarding playoff tickets, is available by calling the team office at (309) 676-1040.
