Roster Updates Following Start to Training Camp

Rivermen add goaltender, forward


Peoria, IL- Day one of Rivermen training camp concluded Wednesday, and the team announced the signing of additional players. Goaltender Brody Claeys has signed his professional tryout agreement with the team, as has forward Michael Moran.


In other news, goaltender T.J. Black has been released, while forward Justin Levac has yet to report to training camp.


At the goaltending position, Brody Claeys comes to Peoria following two years of play for NCAA-DI University of Anchorage-Alaska. Claeys, 23, is a Manitoba native who played junior hockey in both the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) and the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). In 2016-17, Claeys played in 45 games for the BCHL’s Alberni Valley Bulldogs, posting a .908 save percentage. Prior to Peoria, the 6’3” goalkeeper attended training camp with the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays.


Forward Michael Moran also skated in an ECHL training camp this offseason. The Worcester State graduate skated with the local ECHL-Railers. Moran, 24, 83 games at the NCAA-DIII level, tallying 38 goals and 77 points. Wearing a letter in his senior year, Moran earned his second consecutive MASCAC Second Team All-Conference honors. The Milford, MA product played junior hockey in the USPHL for the Boston Jr. Bruins, capturing a championship in his 2014-15 campaign. 


Rivermen training camp continues into this Saturday’s exhibition game with the Quad City Storm. Puck drop is slated for 7:15PM and all tickets are $10.
