Reichert Returns To ECHL, Called-up by Fort Wayne

Peoria sees second recall this season

PEORIA, IL – The Peoria Rivermen have announced that forward Jakob Reichert has been recalled to the ECHL’s Fort Wayne Komets.

Reichert, 26, came to the Rivermen at the start of the 2019-20 campaign after being released from the Jacksonville IceMen during the team’s training camp. Prior to that, the Langley, BC native spent all of last season with the Adirondack Thunder; ECHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils.

Upon leaving Peoria, Riechert was one of just two players for the team this season to have registered a point in every game. Through eight contests, the winger scored six goals and 11 points total, placing him second in team scoring behind only Darren McCormick. Reichert’s highlight of the season came November 9th, where he posted a career-high four point game, scoring two goals and two assists to help Peoria defeat Macon.

Reichert, the second year pro, played college hockey for NCAA-Division I Bowling Green University from 2014-18. His Great Uncle, Sweeney Schriner, was the first Russian born player to play in the NHL. Reichert becomes the second Rivermen to receive a call-up this season, as Ted Hart joined the Maine Mariners two weeks ago. He is expected to play for Fort Wayne in their Sunday game against Wheeling. The Komets are the ECHL affiliate of the Vegas Golden Knights.

Group, single game, and season tickets for Peoria's 38th season of professional hockey presented by Midwest Orthopaedic Center are on sale at the Toyota Box Office in the Peoria Civic Center, at the Rivermen office, located at 201 S.W.
