Ted Hart Gets Call To Mariners

Rivermen forward earns team’s first call-up

Peoria, IL – The Peoria Rivermen announced today that forward Ted Hart has been recalled to the Maine Mariners in the ECHL. Hart skated with the team in training camp before being released and eventually sent to Peoria. The Cumberland, ME native returns to his home state and is expected to be available for the New York Rangers’ ECHL affiliate this upcoming weekend.

“Ted’s speed is ECHL ready,” said Rivermen head coach Jean-Guy Trudel. “He got a chance to play a lot of different situations here in Peoria that will hopefully help him in Maine. He’s very deserving of this call and we hope he sticks.”

Hart skated in all five regular season games with the Rivermen thus far, logging a goal and six points. His lone goal October 26 against Evansville was the first of Hart’s professional career. The 23-year-old spent the last four seasons playing NCAA-DI hockey for Yale University. His brothers, Kevin and Brian, both play professional hockey as well, with Brian Hart being a second round draft pick for the Tampa Bay Lightning and skating in over 50 games with their AHL affiliate in Syracuse.

In other news, the Rivermen have brought Connor Fries back from his brief departure. Fries was released from his three game contract Saturday afternoon, but has now signed a standard contract with the club. The rookie center out of New England College skated in two games with the team.

Group, single game, and season tickets for Peoria's 38th season of professional hockey presented by Midwest Orthopaedic Center are on sale at the Toyota Box Office in the Peoria Civic Center, at the Rivermen office, located at 201 S.W.
