Rivermen Bring Doyon Aboard as First ATO

Center signs with Peoria after four years at Aurora University

PEORIA, IL – The Peoria Rivermen announced earlier today that the team has signed forward Drew Doyon to an amateur tryout offer. The contract is active for three games, and will begin Friday night when the Rivermen host the Pensacola Ice Flyers.

 

Doyon, 24, comes to the Rivermen from Aurora University, where he played at the NCAA-Division III level. His Assistant Coach, Justin Greenburg, played parts of the last two seasons with the Rivermen before accepting the coaching position with Aurora. 

 

A native of Carmel, IN, Doyon played three years in the North American Hockey League (NAHL), with time split between Aberdeen and Johnstown. He collected 368 penalty minutes in 156 NAHL games, before developing into a more offensive player with Aurora. Doyon served as the captain all four years of college, and earned 62 points in 89 games with the Spartans while majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Psychology.
