PEORIA, IL – On Tuesday the SPHL announced that Rivermen forward Alec Baer has been named Warrior Hockey/SPHL Player of the Week for his efforts in the Rivermen’s four games to close out 2023 with a perfect 4-0 record last week.

Baer, a native of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, netted ten points (three goals, seven assists) in four games on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday against Quad City and Macon. This includes two key assists setting up the eventual game-winning goals on Tuesday and again on Saturday before notching his third game-winning goal of the season on Sunday against the Storm. Baer’s four-point performance on Sunday marked his highest offensive output in a game this season. Baer’s 21 points in his last eight games have catapulted him up to second in the overall SPHL scoring race. Baer’s 30 points lead the Rivermen and his 13 goals are tied for the team lead.

Baer is the first Rivermen to be named Warrior Hockey/SPHL Player of the Week this season. The Rivermen will welcome the 2024 calendar year with a road trip to Pensacola on Thursday, January 4, and then two games in Huntsville, Alabama against the Havoc on January 5 and 6.
